The partnership between Urban Partners and the family-owned company Åke Sundvall was established in the spring of 2025 with the ambition to jointly develop tenant-ownership projects and senior housing in some of Stockholm's most attractive locations. The Mews, which is designated as block Q in the City of Stockholm's planning work, is the start of the venture, where the parties take joint responsibility for development, implementation and long-term value creation.
Carl-Adam von Schéele, CEO of Urban Partners Sweden, says: “The Mews demonstrates the strength of our collaboration with Åke Sundvall. The focus has been on developing a vibrant residential district in a strategically important location with high ambitions regarding quality, sustainability and implementation. The project combines well-designed architecture, homes of various sizes and a clear connection to the character of the place.”
The project includes both apartments and townhouses and has been designed by Jägnefält Milton in collaboration with Kod Arkitekter. The ambition is to create homes with high architectural quality and great flexibility, which allows for change over time. The goal is for The Mews to contribute to the site even in 300 years. Preliminary construction will start in the summer of 2026. Åke Sundvall Byggnads AB will be the contractor and a construction agreement has been signed.
Martin Sundvall, CEO of Åke Sundvall, says: “The Mews is being implemented in line with our established working method, where we take integrated responsibility for both development and production. In the collaboration with Urban Partners, we have had a clear focus on feasibility and quality throughout the entire process, with the ambition to create one of Stockholm's most popular residential areas, where people can grow and develop over time while contributing to the whole and strengthening the place over time.”
The project is being built in accordance with the Nordic Ecolabel's environmental requirements and is designed as a small-scale block with several smaller houses of varying heights and shapes, connected by narrow alleys, private terraced courtyards and a square-like open space with greenery and bicycle parking. The design is inspired by classic mews blocks in London and has distinct entrances, robust brick facades and spaces that encourage everyday meetings and a lively street life. In addition to private patios, the block is complemented by shared roof terraces that give residents access to shared living areas with views of the area.
